The All Liberian Conference of Diaspora Leaders, representing the major Liberian regional umbrella organizations around the world has observed with grave concern the growing political tension in Liberia characterized by incendiary rhetoric and occasional threats of violence. The Diaspora leadership representing the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA); the European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA); the Union of Liberian Associations in Ghana (ULAG); The Federation of Liberians in Australia (FOLICA); Conference of Liberian Organizations in the Southwestern United States (COLOSUS); and the Coalition of Concerned Liberians (CCL) issued the call in a joint statement at the close of a recent summit in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA.The leaders made specific reference to the recent threat by a band of former warlords against a legislator, Montserrado County District #10 representative, Yekeh Kolubah, which was later clarified and rescinded. They also commended the organizers of the June 7 rally for their pledge to conduct themselves peacefully with respect to the rule of law.“While the Diaspora Leadership recognizes that free expression of views and assembly are cardinal to the democratic process, it is also aware that the use of confrontational languages in the public space have the potential of creating misunderstanding and a hostile environment,” The Diaspora leadership noted. They further issued a call to all Liberians, including the government, the opposition and the media, as well as those on social media to be mindful of the fact that the nation is still emerging from years of instability. “Let us be mindful of our recent past and help strengthen our fragile democracy by maintaining an enduring environment of peaceful co-existence. In so doing,” the Diaspora leaders noted, “we must tone down the rhetoric as it is time that Liberians begin the process of talking with each other, rather than talking at each other to discuss national issues. We must reckon with the fact that there will always be divergent of views. Hence, tolerance and sobriety are key requirements in expanding the democratic environment.”The Diaspora Leadership Group then called upon Liberians to never again see violence as a pathway to resolving political problems. Rather, politicians, advocates, and citizens should take the constructive path organizing peacefully using the rule of Law to advance their political agenda.June 7 ProtestMeanwhile, the Diaspora Leadership Group is particularly pleased that organizers of the June 7 protest have emphasized their commitment to the rule of Law and pledged that the event will be peaceful. Similarly, the Diaspora leadership Group also welcome the expression by the government that it will uphold its obligations under the law by ensuring that Liberians exercise their right to freely assemble and petition their representatives in a peaceful manner. The Diaspora Leadership Group applauds the decision of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) NOT to stage a counter-demonstration against the June 7 protestors on the same day. This decision is not only wise, but largely removes any miscalculation that could lead to potential violence amongst protestors.Disassociation From Sanctions CallIn a related development, the Diaspora Leadership Group strongly distances its various organizations from a call made by few Liberians who styled themselves as “US Citizens and US Taxpayers” for the United States government to stop economic support to Liberia. The independent group recently made the call when they visited a Legislative staffer in the offices of the U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Diaspora leadership believes that at a time when Liberians at home are facing tremendous economic challenges, such a call by this group for an economic embargo on the Liberian people is unconscionable and may increase the suffering on ordinary Liberians. Meanwhile, the Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) has already taken the necessary actions in the corridors of the U.S. Government to counter what they described as an unwarranted request.Leaders of Liberian Diaspora organizations present at the summit included: Vamba Fofana, President, Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA); Kingston Washington Wleh Sr., President, The European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA); Willie Kim Kamara, President, Conference of Liberian Organizations in the Southwestern United States (COLOSUS); John F. Lloyd, National Chairman, Coalition of Concern Liberians (CCL); Mohamed Salia Dukuly, President, The Federation of Liberian Communities in Australia (FOLICA), Inc.; and Julia Mardea Richards, President, United Liberian Association in Ghana (ULAG).Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) – Advertisement –
9 March 2012 Petrochemical giant Sasol has launched a trust aimed at improving the competitiveness and sustainability of South African agriculture while providing support for enterprise development projects and emerging farmers in the country. The Sasol Agricultural Trust, which will be administered by independent trustees, will also support initiatives aimed at enhancing education and training programmes for farmers and the agricultural industry at large. Sasol will donate R30-million to the trust over a three-year period. Announcing the launch of the trust this week, Sasol said it would focus in particular on the sustainability of grain production, taking into consideration grain’s large contribution to food security in South Africa.Sustainable agriculture for food security “Sasol believes that sustainable agriculture for food security is a priority for the continued development of the country,” Sasol Nitro managing director Marius Brand said in a statement. A successful agricultural industry depends, among other things, on the availability of quality fertilisers and fuel, as well other products produced by Sasol as part of its value chain. Brand said Sasol saw itself as having an important role to play in South African agriculture. The company’s most recent agricultural investments include a boost to the fertiliser manufacturing sector, with the development of a new 100 000 ton per annum ammonium sulphate plant, along with a 400 000 ton per annum limestone ammonium nitrate production facility due to be commissioned by mid-2012.‘Cooperation of all players needed’ Sasol said it believed the cooperation of players along the entire value chain was needed to collectively improve the competitiveness of South African agriculture – a position supported by Grain South Africa, which assisted with the establishment of the new trust. “Grain SA welcomes the announcement and views it as a positive gesture from Sasol to plough back into the South African grain industry,” said Grain SA chairman Neels Ferreira. Sasol Nitro manufactures a wide range of fertilisers at its plant in Secunda, Mpumalanga, including limestone ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate and a range of ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulphate-based liquid and granular NPK fertiliser blends. Farmers from across the country can buy fertilisers either directly from Sasol Nitro or from a number of fertiliser retailers distributing Sasol Nitro’s fertilisers. To ensure an efficient, hassle-free commercial and product support service to all customers, Sasol Nitro has implemented a Customer Contact Centre to support the servicing of customers. I am only giving this a 3 star as i bought 2. One was perfect and well received by my friend as a gift, the other fell apart in my hand. Very disappointed, but equally pleased by the success of the other one. I guess you get what you pay for. The item was very pretty and looked good. A mixed review by me i am afraid. My general feeling is that i wouldn’t order again. Excellent value as it truly is a beautiful hair clip. Color is just as it appeared on the display.I acquired this as a hair ornament but it is an suitable clip to fasten my woolen tartan shawl and has been pretty a lot admired. As my hair is alternatively skinny these days it is somewhat hefty for my hair until it is in a french pleat. I can thoroughly endorse this product as it ilooks pretty exquisite and is very well manufactured.Really don’t know how nicely built it is nevertheless but arrived promtly, perfectly packaged and seems to be excellent, just hope it will not fall aside in the around upcoming but for the price, a bargain.Solid and light-weight at the very same time. I set my hair in a pony tail and set up the two prongs to slide within the elastic hair bands so sits ontop of the pony tail little bit. A lot posher than scrunchies.Large and hefty and not for me as a hair decoration. But it would be great to hold up very long hair at the back. I will transfer it on, but it is a beautifully enough hair decoration.Definitely delighted with this merchandise, attractive colour and style, excellent sturdy clip and seems to be beautiful in my daughter in regulations hair. It arrived on time, perfectly packaged and yes i would recommend both product and seller. This was larger than i imagined it was going to be but is quite quite and sparkly. Excellent if youve acquired an situation and want to impress. No question better for actually very long thick hair. No doubt superior for really extended thick hair. This is a most beautiful hair decoration. Nevertheless it is alternatively major and far too hefty for my hair as it kept slipping out. I am sure it would match an individual with various hair texture. Nevertheless a beautiful merchandise and i would advocate – very fantastic benefit for funds. The clip feels cheep, also lousy and sharp complete. I experienced to file it down before i could have on it.But i have straight high-quality hair in ‘lucy worsley’ bob design and it is just a little bit hefty for me. I am increasing it to put up for evening with hairpiece so will use it then. Would be ideal for thicker, much better curly hair.Good benefit for revenue as constantly. This is a seriously awesome hair clip. . To start with, the photograph is incredibly exact for color. The hair clip is quite superior price, it can be metal and feels really strong with out being much too major to remain set in the hair.It seems to be as superior as the photograph,i was extremely pleased and in appreciate with this hair jewellry.
